Delhi is perhaps the most
quintessential of all India's cities, full of contradictions.
From noisy, chaotic and irresistible medieval bazaars, majestic
tree-lined avenues, thousand-year-old monuments to fast-paced
cars, history rubs shoulders with modernity.
Major offices are located in the heart of the city's shopping
and commercial district close to Rajpath that stretches from
India Gate towards the final architectural bequest of Empire:
the Secretariat, the Houses of Parliament, and the President's
House, Rashtrapati Bhavan. Under the surface of this manicured
exterior - or rather sitting side by side with it, is "Old
Delhi" - a conglomeration of sites, with the ghosts of
history haunting the ruins of old forts, tombs, mosques and
crumbling residences.
Delhi also has the country's best facilities for holding
conventions, conferences, seminars and exhibitions. Most of
them are located in five-star hotels with state-of-the-art
facilities.
